Abstract

The interface passively transported by a prescribed flow field is considered, which relates to a part of a mathematical model for two-fluid flow. A benchmark problem is proposed. The shape of the interface transported by the flow field in the problem is deformed but analytically computable. One can fully validate the accuracy of this numerical scheme by the benchmark problem. As an example, computations are done using a scheme for which an interface convergence theorem had been proved. The result does not only show optimality of the theorem but also shows effectiveness of the benchmark problem.
