Mary Anne Akers is dean and professor in the School of Architecture and Planning at Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland. Her research focuses on the intersection between people and the built environment. She has conducted studies on street vendors, the homeless, inner city residents, and African American women microentrepreneurs.
