Ionic Conductivity of C60-Based Solid Electrolyte

Abstract

We examine the ionic conduction mechanism of the first fullerene based solid electrolyte conductor. Impedance spectroscopy shows that an ionic conduction process involving a Faradaic reaction takes place in the material upon sorption of water. Ion time-of-flight measurements indicate protons and an unidentified anion, which may be OH-, as the conducting species.
