Abstract

The authors describe the most relevant actions adopted in Italy to prevent occupational and environmental exposure to asbestos. They present the mapping and remediation activities implemented in asbestos-contaminated areas. They refer to regulations, standards, and innovative procedures and techniques, as well as asbestos waste management options. The prevention actions as adopted in Italy are among the most wide ranging on an international scale and provide a useful point of reference in asbestos risk prevention globally.
