Optimal subsidies for carbon: Cost‐effectiveness and distributional considerations

Abstract

This paper develops a simple static model to derive the optimal subsidy structure to achieve cost‐effectiveness and, in a more general framework, the paper develops a welfare function approach to explore the determinants of the optimal level of carbon sequestration and its social value.
