Abstract
This article describes a solution-focused approach to working with ethnic minority families. Solution-focused therapy is a brief, time-limited approach with an emphasis on strengths and resources rather than pathology and deficits (Berg, 1994; de Shazer, 1988; O'Hanlon & Weiner-Davis, 1989). Assumptions of the model will be delineated and illustrated with case examples from African-American and Mexican-American families who have been referred for child behavior problems.
