Abstract
The death of musician Prince was a shock to many, especially his fans. What was even more shocking was the revelation that Prince did not leave a will or any other directives for how to handle his estate after his death. This article considers the potential reasons why the artist did not leave a will and looks at what has happened to his estate as a result of this decision. Prince fans have been disappointed in some of the choices made by Comerica Bank & Trust N.A. on behalf of the artist's siblings. Time will tell the ways in which Prince's reluctance to make choices, whether the result of religious beliefs, medical concerns or just not having the time nor the desire to acknowledge the inevitable, will affect the way future generations will interact with his art for decades to come.
