Abstract

The debate over cultural imperialism often neglects the role of the recipient nation in inviting and sanctioning foreign media materials. The present analysis considers the role played by Houphouët‐Boigny in welcoming foreign programming as a means of “modernization”; in Cote d'lvoire.
