Some Physiologic Effects of Isometric Work in Man

Pages 476-482 | Published online: 22 Mar 2013

Abstract

An apparatus for measuring isometric work is described. A comparison is made of the blood pressure changes resulting from isometric work and isotonic work. The isometric work causes sharp rises in systolic and diastolic blood pressures while the isotonic work causes significant changes only in the systolic blood pressure.
