Abstract
The purpose of this study was (a) to develop a method for the objective evaluation of the stunts used in synchronized swimming, and (b) to develop a method which would not depend upon experience and training in the judging of synchronized swimming for effective use. Six judges rated 24 subjects on seven selected stunts, using the analytical method of rating synchronized swimming stunts developed in this study. High correlations were obtained on all stunts, but the correlations were higher and showed less variation for those stunts which had the higher total point values. The judges tended to maintain their relative positions in rating, although some judges used a broader range of the rating scale.
