Early this year, a wave of looting and protest among popular sectors engulfed Venezuela. With elections looming, could such events lead to an uprising that would ultimately oust President Maduro—or have the opposite effect?

Ociel López

Ociel Alì López is a sociologist, political analyst, and professor at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He won an award for his book Dale màs Gasolina: chavismo, sifrinismo y burocracia (2015), as well as the international Clacso/Adsi award for young researchers in 2004.
