Abstract
Treatment strategies for paraphiliacs have been modified significantly in the 1970s and 1980s. Reviews of treatment modalities and outcome research are extensive. An overview of a number of these reviews, including relapse prevention, cognitive-behavior therapy and behavior reconditioning, is included in this paper. An overview of the Integrated Treatment Program for Paraphiliacs, including a 12-step approach, is discussed. Treatment strategies, philosophy, and efficacy are covered. This integrated approach significantly increases program effectiveness, decreases potential recidivism, and creates a broader spectrum for follow-up studies.
