How to Perform Research on the Basis of Dialogical Self Theory? Introduction to the Special Issue

Pages 185-199 | Received 31 Aug 2007, Accepted 01 Oct 2007, Published online: 28 May 2008

Abstract

Four features, central in dialogical self theory, are briefly discussed: (a) the-other-in-the-self, (b) multiplicity-in-unity, (c) dominance and social power, and (d) innovation. On the basis of these theoretical features, the different contributions of this special issue are introduced. The purpose of the contributions is to show how dialogical self theory can stimulate empirical work, with attention to both qualitative and quantitative methods.
