This special section of the journal brings together some of the recent innovations in the field of constructivist psychology. These innovations are not disruptive. Instead, their impact is cummulative, constructive, and sustaining in character. Three articles in the special section present novel combinations of existing frameworks, topics, and concepts.

In his article, Glăveanu elaborates on creativity as a social construction. He outlines three historical perspectives on creativity—the He- (creative genious), I- (creative individual), and We-paradigms (creative collaboration). Beyond identifying these perspectives, Glaveanu reflects on the social, historical, and institutional positions they represent and how these positions relate to each other. He introduces the metaphor of the craftsman in developing a sociocultural account of creativity.

Buzzegoli and colleagues translate psychotherapy group theory into the group psychotherapy training process. Operating from the hermeneutic-constructivist approach, they use the concept of the experience cycle to ground psychotherapy training procedures in experimentation with professional roles. The article thus introduces a training “method” inspired by psychotherapy and invites us to look at education as a process of reconstruction.

De Saint-Laurent introduces a framework for the study of the uses of collective memory in everyday life. Starting from the pragmatic positions of the speech and social acts theories, she invites us to look at everyday usage of collective memory as a discursive act. Theoretical, practical, and methodological implications of the concept of memory acts are discussed.

In sum, this special issue provides resources for advancing our understanding of creativity, memory, psychotherapy training, and psychotherapeutical use of metaphor. It also outlines some inspiring directions for future research and practice in these areas. Innovation continues.
