Pages 225-293 | Published online: 04 Mar 2008

ABSTRACT

In part I, the rapid orowth in GC-MS utilization as an analytical tool is traced historically to recent advances in vacuum technology interface design, ion source design, M5 operational mode, single or multiple ion detection, use of stable, isotopically-labeled internal standards, automated data acquisition and processing systems and, finally, to dedicated, interactive GC-MS-COMP instrumentation.
