Why Do Students Succeed or Fail?: A Case Study Comparison

Pages 57-72 | Published online: 08 Jul 2014

Abstract

Two “at-risk” students started college with seemingly equal academic aptitudes but achieved very different levels of success by the end of the first year. Luke is on academic probation, and Alexandra is on the Dean's List. This case study makes us question the reasons for scholastic success or failure and prompts us to explore the implications for developmental educators.
