ABSTRACT
This article applies a systems engineering approach to formulate a conceptual design of a multi-hazard disaster risk analysis system. An analysis of the requirements of this system identifies user, technical, and output requirements. Functional analysis decomposes these prescribed requirements into a set of system descriptions. Design constraints that impede multi-hazard disaster risk analysis are identified by their requirements and functions. The identified requirements, functions, and design constraints collectively form a baseline design for prototyping a multi-hazard disaster risk analysis system.
