Abstract

The challenges of how to best ionize the enormous diversity of organic compounds that are of interest to the scientific community have led to advances in mass spectrometry interface design. Developments for both surface and flow ionization techniques, including ambient ionization and high throughput methods, are presented. In addition, representative applications suited for each source are described.
