Abstract

This review describes the use of different modes of planar chromatographic techniques such as conventional thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high performance TLC (HPTLC) for separation and analysis of essential and non- essential amino acids and their derivatives. The use of new developed spray reagents and the ninhydrin itself in the analysis and separation of amino acids by TLC have been briefly encapsulated in tabular form.
