Abstract

A high-performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of benzylpenicillin (Penicillin G) in milk is presented. The samples were extracted with acetone, the organic layer then being evaporated to dryness and cleaned-up using C2 solid phase extraction column. The method is simple and robust. The lower limit of quantification was 4 μg/l and the limit of detection close to 2 ppb. The average recovery was 82%.
