Abstract
The author has compiled a detailed survey of the fauna of the Yamal‐Gydan area, the major stress being on the ranges and movements of all the species within this tundra environment. Utilization of these wildlife resources is discussed where relevant. The author has relied both on the available published literature, and particularly on field research during the Arctic‐Antarctic Institute's expedition to the area in 1971–1972.
