REDUCE THE INFLUENCE OF PROCESS ERRORS ON ROTOR PROFILE BY OPTIMIZING ROTOR OFFSET ANGLE

Pages 453-462 | Published online: 31 Aug 2006

Abstract

The clearances between paired rotors are leakage channels that reduce compressor efficiency. A significant portion of the total clearance is allocated to account for profile deviations caused by various manufacturing inaccuracies. The accuracy of the manufactured rotor profile is maintained by both the machine tool motion accuracy and the tool profile accuracy. For the same machine tool motion accuracy and tool profile accuracy, the manufactured rotor profile errors also depend on the offset angle, which is the orientation of the rotor profile while it is under machining. This paper is concerned with the selection of the offset angle to reduce the influence of process errors on the rotor profile.
