Abstract

The marine lubricating oil was emulsified when water penetrated into it, the detergent dispersant in the lubricating oil were decomposed, emulsification could cause worse performance of detergent dispersing property, water preventive function and abrasion resistance. In this study, rubber membrane dialysis and silica gel alumina column chromatography were used for analysis of the oil phase after the water resistance test, combined with a solvent washing system with increased polarity. The results had shown that the structure of sulfurized alkylphenol salt detergent dispersant in marine oil was destroyed by water, large amount of calcium carbonate micelles was destroyed into the water phase, which caused the decrease of the total base number of the marine lubricating oil.
