Abstract
Polyester type foams loaded with PAN or 1‐(2‐pyridylazo‐2)‐naphthol, has been used to extract Copper, Zinc and Mercury from large volumes of water. These foams were squeezed in the water by a specially constructed battery operated device. The amounts of Copper and Zinc extracted were found to have a linear relationship with the number of squeezes of the foam.
