Pages 457-461 | Published online: 15 Dec 2008

Abstract

The proliferation of potentially toxic agents in the environment has caused suspicion that cancer, heart, lung, and other diseases will be produced. Epidemiologists seek associations between such agents and diseases with prevention in mind. Efficient use of established techniques of study and innovative new ones will be necessary for prevention to be achieved before obvious morbidity and mortality have taken place.
