Abstract

Benzoic acid and its derivatives were removed by highly swollen chitosan beads and partially N‐acetylated chitosan beads. Under competitive uptake, benzoic acid is almost removed by chitosan at lower initial concentration, while highest removal ratio was observed for p‐hydroxy benzoic acid at higher concentration. There are differences in the dependence of removal ratios on the initial concentartion.
