What is the “true” radon concentration inside a room?

Summary

A total of 102 radon measurements were taken in a bedroom in the period August 1994 ‐ January 1995. The method used involved placing activated charcoal canisters in six different sampling points in the room. The amount of radon in each collector was determined by counting the 214Pb and 214Bi gamma emitters by means of NaI(Tl) detector. The integrated radon concentration over the aforementioned lapse was also measured through a solid state nuclear track detector. On the whole, the position of dosemeters did not appear to be a critical parameter. On the other hand, the indoor radon level exhibited strong fluctuations, over short periods of time.
