Abstract

The metal contamination in soil and water samples from the area surrounding the coal mine drainage reservoir was studied, the main environmental risk are high acidity and high contents of berillium in drainage water. In solid samples there is serious contamination by arsenic, berillium and copper from mining activities. Contamination by lead and zinc mainly comes from domestic wastes. The metal enrichment factor defined is decreasing in the order Cu > As > Cr > Fe > Be > Zn > Cd > Pb.
