Abstract

Ozonation in conjunction with ion exchange treatment is employed to treat the textile wastewater effluent from a large dyeing and finishing mill. The effectiveness of the combined chemical methods in treating with the wastewater effluent was assessed in terms of water quality for reuse in the textile industries. Experiments were conducted to examine the efects of various operating varibles of ozonation, chemical coagulation and ion exchange on the water quality and to determine the optimum operating ranges. of those varibles. The water quality of wastewater effluent after the combined chemical treatments was found to be superior and exceed the reuse standard for the textile industry.
