Abstract

This study was carried out to find capability of simultaneous removal of organic matters and nutrients using High‐rate Anaerobic Reactor(HAR) and Moving Media Intermittent Aeration Reactor(MMIAR) for the wastewater treatment. A laboratory reactor was operated at 46L/m'/day of hydraulic loading rate. The number of intermittent aeration and the ratio of oxic/anoxic time in MMIAR were varied at the same loading rate. The results showed that the COD and BOD removal efficiencies were above 95% without concern of the number of intermittent aeration and the ratio of oxic/anoxic time in MMIAR. In addition, maximizing denitrification in MMIAR turned out to be the most important factor on simultaneous removal of organic matters and nutrients.
