The Dilemma of Social-Media and Polarization Around the Globe

 

ABSTRACT

Polarization in society, usually along political lines is a complex global problem in many countries today. In this essay, I analyze the problem using social media, particularly Facebook, to illustrate the dllemma and why its resolution is elusive.

Varun Grover

Varun Grover is the George & Boyce Billingsley Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor at the Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas. Over his 30+ year career, he has consistently been ranked among the top five researchers globally, based on his publications in top journals (>300), citations (>47,000) and h-index (of 97). He has received numerous awards for teaching and research on IT/digitalization business impacts, served multiple terms as Senior Editor of premier IS journals like MISQ, JAIS, and played major roles like Conference, Program and Doctoral Consortium Co-Chair (at ICIS and AMCIS).
