Notes

This phrase originates with Benson R. Snyder's text, The Hidden Curriculum (MIT Press, 1973). Snyder argues that much of campus conflict and student performance is the result of unstated academic and social norms that thwart some students' ability to develop independently or think creatively. These obligations, unwritten yet inflexible, form what Snyder calls the “hidden curriculum”.
