Abstract
Having briefly summarized and discussed some main points of several recent papers on eryopedology and on periglacial conditions, the reviewer calls attention to certain desert features that more or less resemble periglacial ones. Products of arid disintegration are in some cases rather like congelifracts and certain desert cracks might be misinterpreted ancient ice wedges. Though there is no doubt about the true periglacial nature of the features treated in the papers here listed and reviewed, cases may occur, especially in older formations, where »fossil» arid features might be mistaken for periglacial ones or vice versa.
