Abstract
A well preserved asteroid from the top of the Lower Silurian of Gotland is described as a new species, Neopalaeaster hesstandi. It seems to form the transition from the Ordovieian Protopalaeasteridae to the Carboniferous Neopalaeaster erawfordsvillensis.
