Paleontological Applicability of Certain Recent Advances in Multivariate Statistical Analysis

Pages 236-265 | Published online: 06 Jan 2010

Abstract

Over the last decade great strides have been made in the theory of multivariate statistical analysis. An attempt is here made to present some of the new methods of possible usefulness in Paleontology, the choice being mainly influenced by the writer's own field of research. The subjects of principal component analysis, factor analysis, multivariate analysis of variance, discriminant analysis, and generalized distances are discussed.
