Abstract
The investigations for building a bridge between the Swedish mainland and Öland have given information about the extension westward of the Palaeozoic rocks in the Kalmarsund. The bedrock surface is in the form of two steps, one of which is supposed to correspond to the Paradoxissimus-layers, the other to the Lower Cambrian strata.
In the Quaternary part of the sections, alternating morainic and fluvial layers occur, which is an interesting point as the area of the drillings has been considered to be an important terminal morainc zone—the Kalmar-line.
