Abstract
Professor Gösta Lundqvist (1894–1967), outstanding Swedish geologist, Fellow of The Royal Swedish Academy of Science, The Royal Swedish Academy of Science, The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Royal Physiographical Society, was a member of the Geological Society of Sweden since 1917. He was active at the Geological Survey during 40 years as a peat geologist, a mapping state geologist and later head of the Mapping Department. The Royal Swedish Academy of Science awarded its Letterstedt Medal in gold to Lundqvist for his great research contributions in Swedish Quaternary geology and for his activities as a geological and biographical writer.
