Abstract

Cryptic surfaces beneath early Sheinwoodian stromatoporoids from Saaremaa (Mustjala Member) were sparsely encrusted (4% in average of encrusted surface areas) by sheet-like bryozoans, ribbon-like bryozoans, cornulitids (Cornulites sp. and Conchicolites sp.), Palaeoconchus sp. (Microconchida), Aulopora sp. and a crinoid. The community is numerically dominated by bryozoans (38.1%) and microconchids (36.4%). The majority of the encrusted area is covered by bryozoans (94.5%). Endolithic organisms were represented by Trypanites borings.
