An Interpretation of the Negative Gravity Anomalies Associated with the Rapakivi Granites and the Jotnian Sandstone in Southern Finland

Pages 21-34 | Published online: 06 Jan 2010

Abstract

The gravity models of the Finnish rapakivi granites show a remarkable similarity both of shape and depth values. The models resemble enormous, asymmetric laccoliths, the depth of the root part being 18–20 km. The formation of the rapakivi-sandstone-complex in Satakunta is apparently closely connected with a Pre-Cambrian, NW—SE-striking zone of weakness.
