Abstract
The percentage by area of different kinds of geological deposits has been determined from directional parameters presented in Wickman (1961a). In this paper, three geological maps (scale 1:50 000) of the western side of Lake Vänern were examined. The present results differ considerably from those given in the Atlas of Sweden. In the Atlas exposed bedrocks are greatly overrepresented, whereas clay and moraine are correspondingly under-represented. In the same way, on the basis of Wickman (1961b), the percentage of water by area has been determined for five topographical maps of eastern central Sweden.
