An anomalous occurrence of the Silurian Visby Marl on Gotland, Sweden

Pages 367-370 | Published online: 06 Jan 2010

Abstract

An occurrence of Visby Marl is reported in an anomalous position, 25–27 m above sea-level and 4 km inland, close to a reef of Högklint age. It is concluded that it represents a large mass of marl which has been displaced by ice, probably as a frozen float.
