Geological interpretation of bedrock from a Landsat colour composit

Abstract

Geological structures in the county of Södermanland have been interpreted from a colour composit taken from a satellite, in order to correlate the linear and curvilinear structures in the image with the known bedrock geology. Structures which have been interpreted are stratifications, bedrock contacts, joint zones or faults, and previously unknown geological features. The circular structures in this study very often coincide with rock types which differ from the surroundings.
