The aurochs from Rockneby

Pages 426-428 | Published online: 04 Jan 2010

Abstract

Four samples of sediments from cavities in a fragment of the skull of an aurochs found at Rockneby in Sweden were analysed by pollen analysis. The diagram shows a late Preboreal age. Bones from the aurochs were also analysed with regard to their 14C contents, which yielded an age of 9480 ± 120 B.P., thus agreeing with the pollen-analytical dating.
