Abstract
Bruton & Harper's criticism (this volume) of my paper Ordovician gastropods from Vardofjället, Swedish Lapland, and the dating of Caledonian serpentinite conglomerates (Holmqvist 1980: Geologiska Föreningens i Stockholm Förhandlingar 102, 493–497) is discussed. The evidence that the Vardofjället gastropods occur in a limestone in the uppermost part of the detrital serpentinites is reaffirmed as is Yochelson's assessment of their Ordovician, probably Middle Ordovician, age.
