Abstract

The meteor that appeared on October 8, 1912 at 6:55 p.m. over Tingsås (=Tingsryd) was thought to have started a fire in the thatch-roofed economy buildings of the vicarage. Through the efforts of David Stenquist, it was shown that the meteorite exploded at least 63 km above the ground. No fall of a meteorite can therefore be expected at this time at Tingsryd, no meteorite has been found and no fire can hardly be attributed to its fall.
