Modulating Fluorouracil with Different Drugs: the Padua Experience

Summary

Several clinical experiences from Padua, Italy confirm that 5-fluorouracil may be usefully modulated by the addition of leucovorin, and especially by platinum and α interferon. The intra-arterial and intraperitoneal administration of such synergistic combinations has also proved to be of benefit in special subsets of patients. Perspectives of further studies are examined.
