Examined material. I analyzed 77 males and 10 females from station CA6 (38°15’54.462”N, 15°45′23.931′′E; coarse sand, 45 m depth). Other specimens were found at stations CA7 (38°15′56.122′′N, 15°45′23.811′′E; coarse sand, 47 m depth), CA8 (38°15’54.681′′N, 15°45′22.470′′E; coarse sand, 44 m depth), and CA14 (38°15ʹ56.331”N, 15°45′21.860′′E; coarse sand, 48 m depth) from the Strait of Messina. The holotypes and the paratypes, i.e. the specimens most representative of the variability observed among individuals, were deposited at the Museum of Natural History of Ferrara (Mus. Civ. St. Nat.
