Summary
The A. gives a summary of the performed researches on the protoracic glands in 5 species of Termites, belonging to different families.
In primitive species this organ shows a cephalic part and a protoracic one similar to the «protoracic glands» of Blattoidea; in higher Termites (Rhinotermitidae and Termitidae) the organ is only cephalic, the so called tentorial gland: secondary modification from the primitive condition.
