The Author examined 276 yellow and 552 silver eels caught in the Valli of Comacchio during 1974–76, and determined the survival and growth curve.
By Allen's method biomass per hectare, 76 kg, and production, 36 kg/ha, were estimated.
The yield observed in the above period was 19 kg/ha.
It is here suggested that the Valli are under-exploited and the author discusses various possibilities of a different environment management for a thorough exploitation of the natural resources.
