On chromosomal DNA alteration after chemical treatment for C-Banding and Coriphosphine-O staining in Culiseta longiareolata (Macquart, 1838) (Diptera: Culicidae)

Abstract

Metaphase cytological preparations of Culiseta longiareolata (Diptera: Culicidae) were stained with Coriphosphine-O after chemical treatments which induce C-banding. The HCl step has been shown to play a critical role in determining colour banding of preparations treated with Ba(OH)₂. The results are discussed in connection with the findings from other species.
